Favvy Alternative: A Free Photo Cleaner With No Daily Swipe Limit

10 min read · By The Pixtide Team · Updated September 26, 2026

On this page

Pixtide is a free iPhone photo cleaner that works like Favvy (swipe right to keep, left to delete) but has no daily swipe limit, no subscription and no ads. Favvy: Clean your photos gives free users 100 swipes a day and sells Pro plans from $4.99 a week to a $49.99 lifetime purchase, checked on the App Store on 2026-09-25. Favvy is ahead on languages, Android and duplicate detection.

This page is written by the Pixtide team (we make Pixtide). We name where the other app wins.

Favvy at a glance

Favvy is a swipe-based photo cleaner made by The Software Company of Barcelona S.L., which trades as Kaikulabs, and it launched on the App Store on 2025-05-13. The Favvy App Store listing showed version 3.6.0, released on 2026-09-17 with a new "Heaviest mode", when we checked it on 2026-09-25. The app is 98.8 MB, needs iOS 16.0 or later and is available in 19 languages. There is also an Android version on Google Play, rated 3.6 from 743 ratings with more than 50,000 downloads.

Ratings checked on the App Store on 2026-09-25: 4.64 from 75 ratings in the US, 4.67 from 347 in Spain (its largest market), 4.54 from 59 in Mexico and 3.8 from 15 in France. Favvy's homepage claims a "4.9 Average" from "150K+ people". That is Favvy's own claim; we could not match it to any store figure. Favvy describes itself as "Like Tinder, but for your photos" and pitches "a minute-a-day cleanup habit".

How Favvy and Pixtide compare

The short version: both apps use the same swipe gesture and both send deleted photos to Recently Deleted, but Favvy caps free swiping and Pixtide does not charge for anything. Every Favvy figure below was checked on the App Store or on favvyapp.com on 2026-09-25.

Why people look for a Favvy alternative

Favvy's reviews changed tone when the app went from free to paid. We read 51 Favvy reviews across 9 App Store countries on 2026-09-25. From May to August 2025 nearly all of them were five stars, and several praised the price. One Spanish reviewer wrote "no te pide ni 1€" (our translation: "it doesn't ask you for even 1 euro", 5 stars, 2025-06-25). Paid plans arrived with version 2.1.0 in August 2025, and 11 of the 51 reviews we read complain about the paywall or the price.

The English-language complaints are short and specific. A UK reviewer called it "Crazy money ... Very basic features for the free use" (1 star, 2025-09-02). A US reviewer who liked the app still wrote "I wish there would be a one time purchase option instead of a subscription" (4 stars, 2026-02-10). A Spanish review of version 3.5.0 said a 92-day streak was reset and that the app "barely lets you delete any photos" (our translation, 1 star, 2026-08-14). The newest US review at the time we checked was a 1-star review of version 3.6.0, dated 2026-09-21.

Reliability reports from 2025

Three reviews from September and October 2025, written about version 2.4.0, say that photos the user meant to keep were deleted. An Irish reviewer wrote "the app had deleted the pictures that I wanted to keep" (1 star, 2025-09-07). These reports are about an older version and we have not reproduced them, so read them as dated user reports, not as a test result. If it happened to you, the fix is the same in every app: open Recently Deleted in Apple Photos and recover the photos within 30 days, as Apple's support page on deleting and recovering photos explains. Our guide to recovering photos deleted by an app walks through it step by step.

The full price of Favvy Pro

Favvy's price depends on which plan the store shows you, and there are seven of them. On the US App Store, checked on 2026-09-25, Favvy lists these in-app purchases: weekly at $4.99 and $5.99, monthly at $9.99, yearly at $14.99, $29.99 and $34.99, and lifetime at $49.99. A German reviewer quotes EUR 2.99 a week. Favvy's pricing page does not print a price, tells readers to check the store listing, and does not mention the lifetime option at all, which may explain why the 2026-02-10 reviewer above asked for a one-time purchase that already exists.

Pro, according to that pricing page, promises to "Delete 20% more photos", "Clean duplicates and heavy assets", "Reduce your iCloud usage" and "Swipe without interruptions". Favvy's FAQ adds "unlimited swipes, advanced sort modes, and streak rewards". Favvy's blog describes the app as having "the lowest price in the category". Pixtide costs nothing, so that comparison does not apply to it. For a wider look at how weekly plans add up, see the photo cleaner subscription trap.

The 100-swipe daily cap in practice

A daily cap of 100 swipes suits a one-minute habit and gets in the way of a big cleanup. Favvy's free tier, per its pricing page checked on 2026-09-25, gives "100 swipes every day, no account and no trial-wall", and you can earn more through streaks and referrals. That fits Favvy's own pitch of "a minute-a-day cleanup habit", and for someone clearing a few dozen photos a day it may never bite.

The cap matters when the backlog is large. A camera roll of 10,000 photos is 100 days of free Favvy swiping, before counting anything new you shoot. Pixtide has no swipe limit and no session limit, so a long weekend sort runs until you stop. Two reviews in our sample name the daily limit as the problem. Our guide to photo cleaners with no swipe limit lists which apps cap free swiping and how to check a listing before you install. If you are sorting a very large library, how to clean up 10,000 photos covers the order of attack.

Privacy: the label, the FAQ and the policy

Favvy's App Store privacy label declares tracking, while its FAQ says the app sends nothing to a server. Both statements are Favvy's own. The label on the Favvy App Store listing, checked on 2026-09-25, lists Location and Usage Data under "Data Used to Track You", and lists coarse location, product interaction, advertising data and other usage data as not linked to you, for Third-Party Advertising and Analytics. Favvy's privacy policy, dated 2026-04-19, names Countly for analytics and Meta and TikTok for marketing measurement. Its FAQ calls it "The most private photo cleaner app you can install" and says it "doesn't send anything to a server".

The likely reading is that photos stay on the phone while usage and campaign data do not, but only Favvy can confirm that. Pixtide's label, checked the same day on the Pixtide App Store listing, has no "Data Used to Track You" section and no advertising purpose. Pixtide does collect anonymous usage statistics, and you can switch them off in Settings. No photo is ever uploaded. The are photo cleaner apps safe guide explains how to read these labels.

Deleting photos safely in either app

Both Favvy and Pixtide delete through Apple's Photos system, so nothing is gone for good on the first tap. Favvy shows a review step and a Confirm button before it deletes. Pixtide works the same way with one extra layer: a swipe only marks a photo, the review screen shows everything you marked so you can rescue a photo you swiped too fast, and only then do you confirm. Confirmed deletes in either app go to the Recently Deleted album, where they stay for 30 days before iOS removes them, as described in Apple's iPhone guide to deleting photos.

The difference that matters day to day is the middle option. Pixtide has a Decide Later queue: swipe down and the photo waits in its own list, so an unsure call does not stop the session. A Decide Later queue is not mentioned in Favvy's listing. Pixtide also plays videos inline with sound and a scrub bar, so you can check a long clip before you cut it. A scrub bar is not mentioned in Favvy's listing either.

Where Favvy wins

Favvy does several things Pixtide does not, and for some people they decide it. Checked on 2026-09-25:

  • 19 languages. Favvy's App Store listing covers 19 languages. Pixtide's listing is in English.
  • Android. Favvy is on Google Play as well as the App Store, so a household with both kinds of phone can use one app. Pixtide is iPhone only.
  • Duplicate and similar-photo detection. Favvy finds similar photos and bursts, on the device according to its blog, with duplicate cleaning in Pro. Pixtide does not detect duplicates at all.
  • Heaviest mode. Version 3.6.0 (2026-09-17) added a mode that surfaces the largest files first, which is the fastest way to free space. Pixtide has no mode that sorts the whole library by file size.
  • Older iPhones. Favvy runs on iOS 16.0 and later; Pixtide needs iOS 18.0.
  • Ratings history. Favvy has 75 US ratings and 347 in Spain; Pixtide launched in 2026 and has far fewer.

Some users simply prefer it. A Reddit comment from 2026-08-01 in r/ApplePhotos called Favvy "like swipewipe but imo easier to use". If you want Heaviest mode or duplicate detection and are happy to pay, Favvy Pro is a reasonable choice.

One honest limitation

Pixtide is a manual swipe cleaner, and a few things are outside what it does. It does not detect duplicates or similar photos; the free Duplicates album in Apple Photos handles exact duplicates, and Clever Cleaner is the app we point people to for similar shots. For burst photos, Pixtide shows only the representative photo of each burst, and deleting it removes that representative, not every frame. Pixtide runs on iPhone only and needs iOS 18.0 or later, so an older iPhone that Favvy supports may not be able to install it. And it is a newer app than Favvy, launched in 2026 with a handful of ratings, so it has less of a track record to judge it by.

Which one to pick

Pick Favvy if you want duplicate or similar-photo detection in the same app, if you need a language other than English, if you also use Android, or if your iPhone runs iOS 16 or 17. Favvy's free 100 swipes a day also suit a short daily habit, and the $49.99 lifetime purchase avoids a recurring charge if you decide to pay.

Pick Pixtide if you want to clear a large backlog in one sitting without a daily cap, if you want no subscription or purchase of any kind, if a privacy label with no tracking section matters to you, or if you want a Decide Later queue and video scrubbing. Many people will do best combining tools: Apple's Duplicates album for exact copies, then Pixtide for the one-at-a-time keep or delete calls.

If you are comparing more swipe apps, the Swipewipe alternative and Picnic alternative pages use the same method, and which photo cleaner apps are free lists what each free tier actually allows.
