Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner is free to download from the App Store, but it is a freemium app: the free tier shows ads and, according to 2026 reviews, stops after about 20 to 25 photos for an 8-hour wait. Full access is a subscription, with a 3-day trial that rolls into a weekly plan. The US App Store lists weekly plans from $3.99 to $9.99 and a $29.99 yearly plan, checked on the App Store on 2026-09-25.

Every Swipewipe in-app purchase

The Swipewipe listing shows ten in-app purchases, checked on the App Store on 2026-09-25. Different prices for the same plan name usually mean different offers or paywalls:

  • Swipewipe+ weekly: $9.99, $3.99, $9.99 and $9.99
  • Swipewipe+ 1 week: $7.99
  • Swipewipe 1 week: $4.99 and $7.99
  • Swipewipe Premium: $9.99 and $5.99
  • 1 year premium: $29.99

What people say they pay differs from the list. Reviewers describe "$7.99 a week or $79.99 a year", about "$10 a week" after the 3-day trial, and a $0.99 first-month offer. The $79.99 yearly price is a user report and does not appear in the listing. At $9.99 a week, a year of Swipewipe would cost about $519. One reviewer put it bluntly: "10$ a week for something this simple is comical" (1 star, 2026-09-13).

What the free version is like in September 2026

Swipewipe's free version got harder to use in late summer 2026. From late August, reviewers describe unskippable video ads of 30 seconds to 3 minutes every 3 to 20 swipes, and since about 2026-09-12 a step where an ad must play before a deletion completes. "i guess we're doing unskippable gambling ads now" (2 stars, 2026-09-20) is typical of recent feedback.

The effect shows in the ratings. In our sample of 500 recent US reviews, the average fell from 3.52 stars in late July to 3.02 in September 2026, while the lifetime rating stays at 4.69. Where Swipewipe wins: it is established, available on iPhone, iPad and Android, and 269 of the positive reviews we read credit it with freeing real storage. Trials cause billing complaints too: "canceled a day early and still got charged" (1 star, 2026-09-23).

Free alternatives to Swipewipe

Apple's own Photos app is the first free alternative: it has no cap, no ads and no subscription. The Duplicates album merges exact copies, and Media Types albums let you select and delete screenshots or videos in batches, as Apple explains in delete or hide photos and videos on iPhone. Deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days (Apple support).

For swiping, Pixtide is free with no ads, no in-app purchases and no swipe limit. Its limits are real: it does not detect duplicates, shows only the representative photo of a burst, and runs on iPhone only. It launched in 2026, so it has far fewer ratings than Swipewipe. The full Swipewipe alternative comparison covers the differences, and which photo cleaner apps are free checks 13 apps.
