Is Swipewipe Safe? Privacy Label, Deletion and Billing Facts

Swipewipe is a legitimate swipe-to-delete photo cleaner by MWM, a French company, and it cannot permanently delete a photo on its own: every deletion goes through Apple's Photos library to Recently Deleted for 30 days. Its App Store privacy label, checked on 2026-09-25, does not declare photos or videos as collected, but it declares data used to track you. The recurring complaints are billing and ads.

This page is written by the Pixtide team (we make Pixtide, a free swipe cleaner). We report the label, reviews and facts, and name our own limits.

How Swipewipe deletes photos

Swipewipe cannot erase a photo permanently, because iOS routes every app's deletions through Apple's Photos library. When you confirm a deletion in Swipewipe, iOS shows its own confirmation, then moves the items to the Recently Deleted album, where they stay for 30 days before iOS removes them (Apple Support: delete photos on iPhone). Swipewipe's FAQ also describes a final look at the month's photos before they are deleted. One practical catch shows up in reviews: "I checked my photos after and they were not deleted" (2 stars, 2026-09-12), which usually means a month was left unfinished, so nothing was sent to Apple for deletion. Recovery works as for any app (Apple's guide to deleting or hiding photos).

What the privacy label declares

Swipewipe's App Store privacy label, checked on 2026-09-25, does not list photos or videos under any data category, but it does declare tracking. Under "Data Used to Track You" it lists Identifiers, Usage Data and Other Data. Under "Data Linked to You" it lists third-party advertising (identifiers, usage data), analytics (purchases, identifiers, usage data, other data), app functionality (purchases) and other purposes (identifiers). The label is written by the developer, not audited by Apple. In Apple's terms, tracking means linking data from the app with other companies' data for targeted ads, which fits an app that shows ads; it is not a statement about your photo library.

Billing and ads: what reviewers report

The complaints in recent Swipewipe reviews are about money and ads, not data. Reviewers describe a 3-day trial that rolls into a weekly plan of about $7.99 to $9.99. Two September 2026 reviews: "canceled a day early and still got charged" (1 star, 2026-09-23) and "10$ a week for something this simple is comical" (1 star, 2026-09-13). Since late August 2026, reviewers also describe unskippable video ads every few swipes, and since about 2026-09-12 an ad before a deletion completes. Many users are happy: "15 GB free in less than 1 and a half hours" (5 stars, 2026-09-15). To avoid a charge, cancel a trial in Settings, your name, Subscriptions at least 24 hours before it renews.

Lookalikes to avoid

Several apps and sites use the Swipewipe name without being made by MWM. The website swipewipe.site is not MWM; it redirects to a different App Store app, "Photo Cleaner - SwipeWipe" (id6759945781), which had 1 rating on 2026-09-25. "Swipe Photo Cleaner: SwipeWipe" (id6462894933) by FlashSoft OU is a separate name clone, rated 4.47 from 327 ratings. The genuine app is "Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner" by MWM, App Store id 1583884012, with official pages at swipewipe.app and mwm.ai.

Where Pixtide differs

Pixtide is a free swipe cleaner whose App Store label has no "Data Used to Track You" section: its anonymous usage statistics are declared as not linked to you and can be switched off in Settings. It has no ads and no in-app purchases, so there is no trial to cancel. Its limits: it launched in 2026 with far fewer ratings, finds no duplicates, runs on iPhone only and needs iOS 18 or later. Compare the two in Pixtide vs Swipewipe or the Swipewipe alternative page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Swipewipe safe to use?

Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner by MWM deletes through Apple's Photos library, so deleted items go to Recently Deleted for 30 days and can be restored. Its App Store privacy label, checked on 2026-09-25, does not declare photos as collected but does declare tracking data and third-party advertising data linked to you. Reviewers mainly report billing surprises and ads, not data problems.

Does Swipewipe steal or upload my photos?

Swipewipe's App Store privacy label, checked on 2026-09-25, does not declare photos or videos as collected data. The label does declare Identifiers, Usage Data and Other Data used to track you, and analytics and advertising data linked to you. The listing does not mention whether sorting happens on the device. Any cleaner with full library access can read your photos, so the label is the public record to check.

Is Swipewipe legit?

Yes. Swipewipe: Photo Cleaner (App Store id 1583884012) launched on 2022-03-05, was acquired by the French company MWM in June 2024, and was rated 4.69 from 94,247 US ratings, checked on the App Store on 2026-09-25. Watch for lookalikes: swipewipe.site is not run by MWM, and "Swipe Photo Cleaner: SwipeWipe" (id6462894933) is a different app from another developer.

Can I get my photos back after Swipewipe deletes them?

Yes, for 30 days. Swipewipe, like every iPhone photo cleaner, deletes through Apple's Photos library, so removed photos and videos go to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app. Open Albums, then Recently Deleted, unlock with Face ID, select the items and tap Recover. After 30 days, or if you empty the album, they are gone for good.
