Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage is a legitimate all-in-one iPhone cleaner from BPMobile, on the App Store since 2017 and rated 4.44 from 350,825 US ratings, checked on the App Store on 2026-09-25. It is free to download, but full access is a weekly or annual subscription and the listing says it contains advertising. Its deletions go to Apple's Recently Deleted album for 30 days, and its privacy label declares data used to track you.

This review is written by the Pixtide team (we make Pixtide, a free swipe photo cleaner). We name where Cleaner Kit wins. If you want a replacement rather than a verdict, the Cleaner Kit alternative page covers that.

Who makes Cleaner Kit

Cleaner Kit is a long-running, actively updated app from BPMobile, a developer registered as BP Mobile LLC in Miami. It launched on 2017-01-26, and version 5.31, which turns Live Photos into stills, shipped on 2026-09-25. Apple's App Store data showed 351,077 US ratings on 2026-09-29, about 63 new ratings a day since the 2026-09-25 check, which makes it the second most rated of the photo cleaners we track, after Codeway's Cleanup. The listing says the app is "trusted by 70M+ users", a figure BPMobile states and we have not verified. One naming trap: "Cleaner Kit: Free up Storage" by Glu Limited (App Store id 6730116286, 1,678 ratings) is a separate app.

Is Cleaner Kit free

Cleaner Kit is free to install, but the full app is a paid subscription. The listing, checked on the App Store on 2026-09-25, offers "essential cleanup tools at no cost" and asks you to "subscribe for full access", billed weekly or annually. The US in-app purchase list shows items named Premium or Pro from $4.99 to $6.99, without saying which plan is which. Third parties fill the gap: InsanelyMac (2025-02-23) and HandyRecovery (2026-09-15) reported $6.99 a week after a 7-day trial, HandyRecovery reported $29.99 a year, and AppleHeadlines (2026-04-18) described a 3-day trial. Free use is capped: InsanelyMac described "20 files per ad" in 2025, and 2026 reviewers describe a 2 GB daily limit. Our guide to which photo cleaner apps are free sets these limits next to other apps.

How to cancel a Cleaner Kit subscription

A Cleaner Kit subscription bought on an iPhone is billed by Apple, so it is cancelled in Settings, not inside the app. Apple's steps (Cancel a subscription from Apple):

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Cleaner Kit.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription (you may need to scroll).

Deleting the app does not stop billing. To avoid paying after a free trial, cancel at least a day before it ends. About 110 of the 982 US reviews we read describe a trial that became a charge, for example: "It said it had a 7 day free trial but they charged me $49.99 right away." (1 star, 2026-08-19). If you were charged for something you did not want, Apple takes refund requests at reportaproblem.apple.com (Apple's refund guide). Apple, not BPMobile, makes that decision.

Are deleted photos recoverable

Yes, for 30 days: Cleaner Kit deletes through Apple's Photos library like every iPhone cleaner, so removed photos and videos land in Recently Deleted first. Apple keeps them there for 30 days before erasing them for good (Apple Support: delete photos on iPhone). To restore one, open Photos, scroll to Utilities, tap Recently Deleted, unlock with Face ID, select it and tap Recover. Cleaner Kit adds its own buffer in swipe mode: the listing says a left swipe sends a photo to an archive you can "review later or delete immediately". The riskier path is the AI scan with one-tap removal. About 43 reviews report wrong picks or contact-merge damage, including "I would have lost hundreds of unreplaceable baby pictures." (1 star, 2025-12-30). Open each pre-selected group before tapping delete. Contacts never pass through the photo bin, so use the app's contacts backup before any merge.

The privacy label, as read

Cleaner Kit's App Store privacy label declares six kinds of data that "may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies": Purchases, Location, Identifiers, Usage Data, Diagnostics and Other Data. We read it on 2026-09-25 and again on 2026-09-29, and it had not changed. Data linked to you covers third-party advertising (device ID, advertising and usage data), analytics, app functionality and coarse location. Photos and videos do not appear in any category. The App Store notes the label "has not been verified by Apple". The listing states "All AI processing happens on your iPhone only", and we found nothing suggesting photos are uploaded. Outside the label, a Surfshark research chart on phone cleaner apps found that Cleaner Kit shares the most data among the cleaners it studied, nine data types with third parties. Our guide to whether photo cleaner apps are safe explains what each label term means.

What reviewers say

Recent Cleaner Kit reviews split between people who like the tools and people who did not expect to pay. Of 982 unique US reviews we read on 2026-09-25, 585 gave 4 or 5 stars and 306 gave 1 or 2. Praise centres on speed and the swipe mode (about 113 reviews), ease of use for older owners (about 102), freed storage (about 80) and email cleanup (about 42). One reviewer wrote: "I'm 70 years old and very handy" (4 stars, 2026-07-27). Complaints centre on the paywall (about 157), trial charges and refunds (about 110), ads and a rating request that blocks the app mid-session (about 62), crashes (about 52) and daily caps or timeouts (about 28). The monthly average of the latest 500 reviews rose from 3.98 in July to 4.07 in August and 4.21 in September 2026. Theme counts are our own rounded reading.

Where Cleaner Kit wins

Cleaner Kit is the better pick when you want one app to tidy more than the camera roll. It merges and backs up contacts, cleans a Gmail inbox, tidies calendars, compresses videos, converts Live Photos to stills and keeps private photos in a Face ID secret folder. Its AI scan groups duplicates, similar shots, blurry photos, screenshots and bursts, so a large library can shrink in a few taps, and about 45 reviews credit it on duplicates and blurry shots. It reaches more phones and readers than most rivals: it runs on iOS 15 or later, ships in 14 languages and offers large fonts and a high-contrast mode. If contacts and email matter to you as much as photos, one subscription can be better value than several separate apps.

How it compares

Among iPhone photo cleaners, Cleaner Kit sits at the suite end, and single-purpose apps sit at the other. Pixtide, which we make, keeps only the swipe: right keeps, left marks for deletion, down decides later, then a review screen before anything goes to Recently Deleted. It is free with no ads, no subscription and no AI selection, but it finds no duplicates, handles no contacts or email, and needs an iPhone on iOS 18 or later. The side-by-side table and other options are on the Cleaner Kit alternative page, and our reviews of whether Cleanup is safe and whether AI Cleaner is safe run the same checks on two similar apps.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cleaner Kit free?

Cleaner Kit by BPMobile is free to download with some basic tools at no cost, but its App Store listing says full access is "billed weekly or annually" and that the app contains advertising, checked on 2026-09-25. In-app purchases run from $4.99 to $6.99. HandyRecovery reported $6.99 a week after a 7-day trial and $29.99 a year on 2026-09-15. Free use is capped, for example by ads between batches of files.

Is Cleaner Kit legit?

Yes. Cleaner Kit - Clean Up Storage is a real app by BPMobile (BP Mobile LLC, Miami), App Store id 1194582243, on the store since 2017-01-26 and updated to version 5.31 on 2026-09-25. It had 351,077 US ratings on 2026-09-29 and averaged 4.44 when checked on 2026-09-25. A different app, "Cleaner Kit: Free up Storage" by Glu Limited, uses a similar name.

Is Cleaner Kit safe to use?

Cleaner Kit deletes through Apple's Photos library, so removed photos stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days, and its listing says AI processing happens on the iPhone. Its App Store privacy label, read on 2026-09-25 and 2026-09-29, lists six data categories used to track you but no photos or videos. Surfshark research found it shares the most data among the cleaner apps it studied.

How do I cancel a Cleaner Kit subscription?

On an iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Cleaner Kit and tap Cancel Subscription, as Apple's support page describes. Deleting the Cleaner Kit app does not cancel billing. Cancel at least a day before a free trial ends to avoid the first charge. If you were charged unexpectedly, request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; Apple, not BPMobile, decides refunds.

Can I recover photos Cleaner Kit deleted?

Yes, within 30 days. Photos and videos deleted by Cleaner Kit go to the Recently Deleted album in Apple's Photos app. Open Photos, scroll to Utilities, tap Recently Deleted, unlock with Face ID, select the items and tap Recover. In Cleaner Kit's swipe mode, left-swiped photos first go to an archive inside the app, so check there before assuming a photo is gone.
